The weather wasn’t kind!
The wind proved too strong!
The weather got the better of this year’s Victorian Street Fair in Bo’ness.
It had to be cancelled at the last minute due to very high winds gusting up to 60 miles per hour.
One of the street stalls in Hope Street was blown clean over with the wind funnelling through it and two other gazebos were partially destroyed even when being dismantled.
Luckily there were no casualties and no damage to buildings or property but it might have been worse if it had gone on.
The Right Decision
It was the right decision taken at the right time to ensure there was no possibility that anyone, stallholders or visitors, would get hurt.
The policy of Better Safe than Sorry is a good and proper one particularly when even the best of care and attention could not guarantee 100% safety for all those involved and taking part.
A cloud with a little silver lining
Even although the fair was cancelled, a good many of the town centre shops, that had opened specially for the daystayed open, and reported that those visitors that did arrive stayed awhile making up for the disappointment felt all round.
But there is always Next Year!
Despite the disappointment for the organisers, all the stallholders and, of course, all those visitors looking to enjoy a another great day out, as in previous years, it will just make next year’s fair all the more important and enjoyable.
So, remember, it is the last Sunday in May, every year. Stick it in your diary now and see you then!

It’s that time again for fun and games at the Bo’ness Victorian Street Fair
It’s almost here, tomorrow’s Sunday! No, not the second coming but the third of the new Bo’ness Victorian Street Fair.
Everything’s organised that can be organised except for the weather which is out of our control but…
The forecast seems to be OK!
Could be a wee bit overcast at times but there are a good many sunny spells so don’t forget and get on down there for another good day in Bo’ness.
See Ya!!

2010 – I could have been a contender
Well maybe not a contender but a stall holder at least!
There are still a number of stall spaces available.
If you think you could fill a spot, you could still take a table or a stall and sell or show off your wares (as long as it’s legal, that is!).
If you’re a charity you could raise some funds or if a business, craft or otherwise, you could sell some stuff and make some money!
Where else could you find 5000+ potential customers on a Sunday afternoon? And you’ll be surprised just how cost-effective that is!
Contact Mary-Jane Armstrong at TCM (Town Centre Management) on tel. 01324 611293 or mobile 0793 191 8206 and join in with the fun.
